After the thunderous success of Emilia Perez, Saint Laurent Production confirms its status as a patron of art-house movies with the release of Father Mother Sister Brother. The film, written and directed by Jim Jarmusch, will be presented in the official selection of the 82nd edition of the Venice Film Festival.

It’s been five years since Jim Jarmusch was last behind the camera. Saint Laurent Production pulled off a masterstroke by supporting the grand return of the master of anti-action cinema. The American artist will present his new film at the Venice Film Festival, alongside the French fashion house, as part of the official selection.

Father Mother Sister Brother is a sharp and intelligent comedy, interwoven with threads of melancholy. The creation is constructed in the form of a triptych. Three stories coexist in his new feature film, connected by a common thread. True to his complex characters and emotionally charged storytelling, Jim Jarmusch explores the fragile relationship between parents and children. Family portraits follow one another and collide, in search of the unspeakable, what cannot be said but is revealed through gestures, acts of care, or silence.

This raw, poetic and sensitive fresco unfolds across three distinct parts. The first act, Father, is set in the northeastern United States; Mother takes place in Dublin, Ireland; and Sister Brother is set in Paris, France. The film, produced by Saint Laurent Production, features an impressive cast alongside the American director. Among the most renowned celebrities are multi-Oscar-winner Cate Blanchett, Adam Driver, Charlotte Rampling, and model Luka Sabbat.

Known for his slow and contemplative cinema, Jim Jarmusch returns with a three-act film where every silence is full of meaning and every detail matters. He remains faithful to his signature rhythm and his meticulous approach to color, from high-contrast images to misty, dreamlike scenes, like a metaphor for his ambiguous and experimental cinema. Jarmusch’s filmmaking fully embraces its radical aesthetic choices.

This artistic vision is precisely what convinced Saint Laurent Production, the company founded in 2023 under the direction of Anthony Vaccarello. In just two years, the fashion house has already presented five films to the Cannes Film Festival, including Emilia Perez by Jacques Audiard, and works by legendary filmmakers such as David Cronenberg, Pedro Almodóvar, and Jean-Luc Godard.

Father Mother Sister Brother, directed by Jim Jarmusch and backed by Saint Laurent Production, is set to be one of the major highlights of the Venice Film Festival.
